Shaw Floor Covering Part of 'Extreme Makeover&

Dalton, GA, February 9--Shaw joined with Centex Homes in the ABC program "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to help a worthy family receive a new home, complete with appliances, furniture, and decorative accessories. The family, a widowed mother, Roseanne Dore of Kingston, Washington, and her three daughters, lost their home to a fire. Shortly thereafter, they learned that their home insurance policy had lapsed when their agent retired. The mother moved with her children to a utility shed in the backyard that had no plumbing, electricity, or running water. The girls - Jessica, 21, Sarah, 17, and Aariel, 13 - had to visit friends’ houses to shower. The family also had to use a doorless outhouse, and they cooked outdoors on a propane grill. All four slept on bunk beds in a room that was no larger than many walk-in closets. The step-by-step building of the new home was featured on the January 9th episode of "Extreme Makeover." Shaw donated carpet, laminate flooring, and ceramic tile to the project. "We were pleased to be able to help a family so clearly in need," says Mark Tucker, Shaw manager of builder products and marketing. "So many people and companies were generous with their time and materials, and we’re proud to be a part of the project." "Centex Homes was proud to be a part of this effort for 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' and is grateful to the vendor partners who made the project a success," said David Finch, project logistics and procurement coordinator.
