Shaw Cutting Jobs at LaFayette Nylon Plant

LaFayette, GA, June 5, 2008--Shaw Industries said it is laying off 50 people at its plant in LaFayette, reducing its workforce to 460.

The company said that innovation in the plant's pre-dyed and space-dyed nylon manufacturing, as well as weak demand from a soft housing market, are forcing the job cuts.

Last week Shaw announced the complete closure of its plant in Stevenson, Ala. leaving about 400 people there out of work.
