Shaw Buys Georgia Tufters

Dalton, GA, Apr. 25--Shaw Industries has acquired Georgia Tufters, a Calhoun, Georgia based, producer of tufted bathroom and scatter rugs. With sales of $40 million last year, Georgia Tufters was ranked 64th on Floor Focus’ list of the Top 100 floorcovering manufacturers. Georgia Tufters supplies mass merchants such as Wal-Mart and Kmart. The unit will become a part of Shaw’s rug division. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. Jeff Meadows, vice president of Shaw’s Rug division, said the expanded company will be able to offer the companies’ combined customers an even broader selection of rug products.
