Sears Same-Store Sales Up 1.9% in October

Hoffman Estates, IL, November 4--Sears, said sales at domestic stores open at least a year rose 1.9 percent in October, breaking a string of six straight monthly declines, helped by increases in its home appliance business. Analysts, on average, had expected same-store sales to decline 0.2 percent, according to a Reuters survey. The department store operator said total domestic store revenue increased 0.1 percent to $1.90 billion in the four weeks ended Oct. 30. Apparel sales were down slightly compared with last October. Specialty retail revenue was up in the mid-single-digit range, with sales gains at Sears Dealer Stores, The Great Indoors and Orchard Supply Hardware, the company said.
