Scandian Names Patterson VP Sales & Marketing - No

Virginia Beach, VA, October 3, 2005-- Scandian Industries has named John T. Patterson to the newly created position of vice-president of sales and marketing-North America. Scandian Industries is the largest producer of exotic hardwood flooring in Brazil. This product line is composed of 14 different South American species and is offered in pre-finished and unfinished flooring. “Scandian Industries is committed to establishing the Scandian Brand in North America. Therefore, our search for a key person to drive this entry is critical to our long-term success,” says Fabio Scandian, VP Scandian Industries. “We are excited about the possibilities the North American market will create for our company. Patterson will be responsible for flooring sales throughout North America.” Scandian produces solid and engineered exotics species of tongue-and-groove flooring in four of its twelve plants in Brazil. The company will be expanding the product line to include a new “Uniclic” glueless, engineered hardwood floor produced in the new plant in Curitiba, by Surfaces 2006. “I am truly excited about being a part of Scandian’s entry into this market. The Scandian family is dedicated to success in all facets of their business from securing raw materials, to a high quality-low cost manufacturing process, to a commitment to customer satisfaction. At Scandian, everything begins with the customer”, said Patterson. This simple principal is a driving force behind Scandian’s success. “Placing the customer and employee first allows us to focus our energy on one issue, 100% satisfaction within our company and customer base,” says Fabio Scandian. “We believe Patterson’s expertise, knowledge of the industry and commitment to customer satisfaction makes him an excellent choice for our organization.” Scandian is in the process of appointing distribution to service the flooring industry. In recent years, the consumer demonstrated a desire to purchase wood floors similar to, but different from, their neighbor. The demand has elevated the exotic species to upper double-digit growth. Scandian secures raw materials by managing several IBAMA approved sustained forest management programs. “Having access to sufficient quantities of raw materials and manufacturing capabilities are essential to meet the needs of the North American market. I believe our company is well positioned to capitalize on the consumers craving for South American species,” said Paulo Scandian, president, Scandian Industries.
