SBIC’s Sustainable Perspectives to Kick Off Super

Washington, DC, November 29, 2005--The Sustainable Buildings Industry Council will present “Sustainable Perspectives: Weathering the Storm,” a unique plenary panel presentation that will kick off SBIC’s Super Thursday, on December 15th at the new Washington, DC Convention Center. SBIC’s Super Thursday is just one part of SBIC’s larger conference and expo being held that week, Ecobuild Federal. The plenary panel has been designed to present three perspectives: policy, property, and products by outstanding speakers, each top in his field. David Garman, Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy is one of our Nation’s senior most policy officials and oversees one of the largest buildings-related R&D budgets in America. The policies that DOE creates and implements have enormous impact across the US and worldwide. Most recently, the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the first major revision of national energy policy since 1992 has been signed into law, altering energy efficiency tax credits, solar tax credits, buildings research and development priorities and more. Dr. Charles Korman is GE’s Chief Technologist for Solar Energy. In that capacity, he serves as a bridge between GE Energy’s Solar Technologies business and GE’s Global Research Center. He works closely with both the business and research functions to develop and execute new product and new technology initiatives. In May GE’s CEO announced that he was staking the company’s future on its ability to “define the cutting edge in cleaner power and environmental technology.” The company has called its new initiative “Ecomagination”. GE, the nation’s largest company, whose stock is the most widely held in the world, is an innovator both at home and abroad. Dr. Get Moy, P.E., is the Director of Installations Requirement and Management at the Department of Defense. Dr. Moy is responsible for stewardship of DOD installations worldwide. Among other activities, he supports appropriate sizing of domestic and overseas base structures and improved installation management, while ensuring that energy and environmental mandates are met. His program ensures that the DOD utility infrastructure is secure, safe, reliable, and efficient; that energy and water commodities are procured effectively and efficiently; and, that the components maximize energy and water conservation efforts.
