Saks to Close Two Alabama stores

New York, November 2--Department store operator Saks Inc. said it will close two of its Parisian stores in Birmingham, Alabama. The company plans on closing its Eastwood Mall store at the end of January and its Western Hills store in mid-March. Saks operates four other Parisian stores in metropolitan Birmingham, and those locations will remain open. The closing of the stores is consistent with Saks' plan to focus on its more productive locations. Parisian employs about 120 people at the Eastwood location and roughly 90 at the Western Hills store. All affected workers either will be offered a transfer to other stores or will receive severance packages.
