Rodeo Carpet Mills Shuts Down

City of Commerce, CA, Jan. 28, 2010--Rodeo Carpet Mills shut down its operations on January 15.

“Although we have not been strangers to bad economic times in the past, we have always been able to survive them," Carmen Murray, owner and president of Rodeo, said in a letter to customers.

"It is not just the bad economy, but the length of time it is taking to recover that has forced me to make this decision.”

Rodeo specialized in hand tufted custom rugs and carpets in any length or width, as well as broadloom carpet. It was a Wools of New Zealand partner.

The company is liquidating assets and expects the process to be complete no later than Feb. 15.

The business was founded by Lou Sugarman in the 1960s, but has been led by Murray since 1998.
