Robert Shaw Increases Stake in Dixie Group
Dalton, GA, April 29, 2009--Robert Shaw, retired founder and former CEO of Shaw Industries, now owns 12 percent of the common stock of carpet maker Dixie Group Inc.
According to a company proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission in March, Shaw owned 734,495 shares of common stock, and at that time was the largest individual stockholder other than CEO Daniel Frierson.
A later filing with the SEC dated March 31 revealed that Shaw had upped his stake to 1,424,495, or an additional 690,000 shares.
A check of daily trading volume in Dixie shares shows that 837,800 shares traded on March 25, and the stock closed at $1.06 per share. The normal daily volume is about 36,000 shares, according to Yahoo Finance. It is not clear, however, whether Shaw purchased his shares that day.
Wednesday afternoon shares were trading at $2.10 each.
