Ishpeming, MI, February 23, 2006--The Robbins Flooring mill in Ishpeming has been severely downsized.
A company spokesman says between 14 and 16 jobs at the facility have been eliminated. Some of the products that had been made in Ishpeming will be switched to other locations.
Officials say a shift in consumer preference and an increase in demand for other Robbins products led to the change.
Robbins makes hardwood and synthetic sports and recreational flooring. It's used in NBA basketball arenas and other venues around the world.
The Ishpeming mill will continue to make portable hardwood floors.
