Retailer's Survey Says Majority Do DIY Projects
Kennesaw, GA, March 11, 2008—A majority of homeowners take on do it yourself projects and say it’s important to use sustainable products, according to a survey by Floor & Décor.
In the online remodeling survey, 67 percent of homeowners said they do DIY projects.
"The survey results are in line with what we've observed in our stores," said Michael K. Froning, president and CEO of Floor & Décor, a seller of hard surface flooring.
"Many of our customers choose to install their own flooring instead of hiring a contractor and, because of consumers' increased demand for green products, we created special sections in many of our stores devoted to environmentally friendly materials."
Also, survey respondents ranked affordability (45 percent) and durability (22 percent) as their top considerations when making flooring decisions, followed by attractiveness (14 percent).
