Report: Mohawk Home to Close Two Facilities

Dalton, GA, August 31, 2007—According to reports, Mohawk Industries’ Mohawk Home unit is planning to shutter two plants in Georgia. The plants, which are in Dalton and Calhoun, produce woven throws, decorative pillows and woven bed spreads.

According to Bill Kilbride, president of Mohawk Home, the unit expects to be out of the throw market by the first part of 2008.

Kilbride said all of the employees at the company’s Calhoun facility will be given first priority at other jobs in the Mohawk organization. He said between 100 and 125 people work at the facility and that there are “well over that number of openings in company.”
