Recycler to Supply Recycled Backings to Interface

Tokyo, Japan, March 24--Refinverse Inc., a recycler of commercial-use carpet tiles, has formed an agreement to provide recycled backing materials to Interface Corp., which is the largest commercial carpet manufacturer in the U.S., according to Asia Pulse. Refinverse has a proprietary process for separating carpet fibers from their vinyl chloride resin backing and then pulverizing the backing material so that it can be used again for carpeting. The company will supply this material to Interface's sales agent in Japan, which will fashion it into sheets and ship them to two Interface carpet factories in Australia and Thailand. Refinverse will furnish some 340 tons of the recycled backing material for these two factories between now and March 2006. The company is currently looking for a site in Chiba Prefecture where it will build a new recycling plant to increase its processing capacity fivefold to 16,000 tons a year.
