R.C. Willey to Expand into California
Rocklin, CA, January 10--California's first R.C. Willey Home Furnishings store will open in Rocklin next year to anchor Blue Oaks Town Center, the Salt Lake City-based retailer announced this week. Company officials said the store will open in the summer of 2006. Construction on the 13.5-acre Blue Oaks Town Center site is scheduled to begin in about six months. R.C. Willey, owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc., has 17 stores in Utah, Nevada and Idaho that sell furniture, electronics, appliances and flooring. The Rocklin store will employ about 200 workers and feature a 130,000-square-foot showroom with an additional 35,000 square feet of warehouse storage, the company said. R.C. Willey also has a store under construction in Reno that will open this summer. The chain posted $450 million in sales in 2003, when it had 12 stores, according to Hoovers Inc.
