Production Control System Saves Shaw Money

Milwaukee, WI, July 27, 2007--Shaw Industries has installed a production control and information system from Rockwell Automation that improves access to information on the plant floor and eliminates downtime due to unreliable equipment.

Integration of Shaw's information and control systems saved the company money by improving the flow of information throughout the business.

The system included consolidation of an assortment of plant-floor networks, and the integration of control, visualization and information systems to cut maintenance and operational costs.

"We previously had multiple networks operating separately from one another, which created considerable complexity and inefficiency," said Gary Norwood, automation manager, Shaw Industries.

With the new system, Shaw has improved its production capabilities and has better control of production processes, such as tufting, dye coloring and backing. Among other capabilities, Shaw can monitor and maintain its systems online
