Producer Prices Rose 0.6% in January
Washington, DC, February 14, 2017-- The Producer Price Index for final demand increased 0.6% in January, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported.
Final demand prices rose 0.2% in December and 0.5% in November.
On an unadjusted basis, the final demand index climbed 1.6% for the 12 months ended January 2017.
In January, over 60% of the advance in the final demand index is attributable to a 1.0% increase in prices for final demand goods. The index for final demand services moved up 0.3%.
Prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 0.2% in January after inching up 0.1% in December. For the 12 months ended in January, the index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services climbed 1.6%.
