Private-Sector Employment Adds 475,000 Jobs in February

Roseland, NJ, March 2, 2022 - Private-sector employment grew by 475,000 jobs in February, according to the February ADP employment report released March 2.

Large businesses (500+ employees) made up the bulk of that growth, while small businesses (49 or fewer employees) saw a loss of 96,000 jobs.

Of the 475,000 new jobs, nearly 88% were in the service sector, led largely by leisure and hospitality (170,000 jobs) and trade, transportation and utilities (98,000 jobs).

In the goods-producing sector, which gained 57,000 new jobs, manufacturing accounted for 30,000 and construction comprised 26,000.

The overall growth represents a dip from January's 509,000 new jobs but is roughly in line with the past five months, save for December, when employment spiked at 780,000 new jobs.
