Private Sector Employers Add Jobs in April

Roseland, NJ, May 5, 2010--U.S. private sector employers added 32,000 jobs in April, according to the ADP employment report released Wednesday.

The increase in ADP employment was in line with expectations. The private sector has now added jobs for three straight months based on revised data.

The ADP report comes two days before the Labor Department reports on nonfarm payroll growth for April. Economists are expecting a sizable 185,000 increase in nonfarm payrolls. The ADP report does not include federal workers or temporary census workers.

Joel Prakken, chairman of Macroeconomic Advisers LLC that prepares the report, said the goods producing sector has not turned the corner.
