Villarreal, Spain, December 22, 2006--Ceramic producer Porcelanosa has decided to diversify into the renewable energy sector, setting up a new business line through subsidiary Butech, which specializes in covering installation systems.
Butech will sell solar panels to heat up domestic water. They will be installed by solar power specialist 3S, part of construction group Franjuan, which will also offer maintenance services. As from September this year, new buildings must have solar panels in order to save energy.
The panels will be sold at Porcelanosa shops, first in the domestic market and later outside Spain. Porcelanosa operates over 400 outlets worldwide. The group generated sales of 874m euros last year, a figure which is expected to rise to over 950m euros in 2006. Meanwhile, Butech, which was set up five years ago, recorded sales of 18.57m euros last year.
