PG Hardwood Consolidating Production
Saint-Édouard-de-Lotbinière, Quebec, Canada, Sept. 8, 2010--PG Hardwood Flooring is transferring all its production to Saint-Édouard-de-Lotbinière and will cease operations at a plant in Beauceville.
The company said that a major restructuring program has been underway at the Saint-Édouard-de-Lotbinière plant for more than two years. The process was completed last July with the installation of the last few pieces of equipment.
PG said it will be able to produce more using less raw material. The company will be able to increase production by 33%, bringing its annual capacity to more than 22 million board feet of flooring.
PG says it leads the industry in terms of yield for each board entering production.
The Beauceville plant was purchased by PG in 2002 to offset a lack of production capacity and meet the rising demand at the time. The decision to close it was partly due to lower demand.
