Pfleiderer Vows Aggressive Patent Stance

Neumarkt/Stockholm, Sweden, August 30, 2007 - Pfleiderer Aktiengesellschaft said it has established an Intellectual Property Business Unit to take advantage of the extensive intellectual property portfolio owned by the newly acquired Pergo Group and it is has established an aggressive intellectual property strategy.

 

"Pergo has for too long been a slumbering giant in the intellectual property field," said Frida Rosenholm, general counsel of Pergo AB and head of the Intellectual Property Business Unit.

"This will all change now. For the first time in Pergo's history we have a pronounced, aggressive, intellectual property strategy and owners that are willing to invest in the utilization and enforcement of the intellectual property portfolio. It will no longer be possible to utilize Pergo's pioneering inventions without paying royalty to Pergo,"

he company said that the new unit will initially focus on using Pergo's patent portfolio. It said Pergo invented laminate flooring in the 1970's and has since continued to invent and develop new, innovative and revolutionary products and technology.

 

Pfleiderer said  Pergo's intellectual property portfolio today comprises over 450 granted patents and pending patent applications, approximately 300 registered trademarks and trademark applications and an extensive list of copyrights and designs.
