Personal Spending Rises at Fastest Rate in Nearly Six Years

Washington, DC, June 25, 2015—-Personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $105.9 billion, or 0.9%, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. This is the fastest rate of increase since August 2009.

Personal income increased $79.0 billion, or 0.5%, and disposable personal income (DPI) increased $65.5 billion, or 0.5%, in May. 

In April, personal income increased $69.6 billion, or 0.5%, DPI increased $57.0 billion, or 0.4%, and PCE increased $8.5 billion, or 0.1%, based on revised estimates.
