Persian Rugs Featured at Dubai Sales Festival

Tehran, Iran, January 4, 2007--Sales of the carpets and rugs at Dubai Sales Festival surpassed 7.8 million UAE dirhams in the past 10 days, according to Mehr News Agency. Offering varieties of Persian rugs and carpets in different colors and designs, Iran’s pavilions at Dubai Sales Festival had the most number of the visitors and highest sales during the past ten days of the entertainment and shopping extravaganza. Iranian rug dealers sold over 1,500 rugs worth around 7.8 million UAE dirhams during the past 10 days since the beginning of this 45-day shopping, entertainment and lucky draw festival in this Persian Gulf state. More than 150 producers from Iran, India, Turkey, China, Pakistan and Afghanistan are showcasing over 150,000 different rugs and carpets at the festival, the Persian service of ISNA news agency said on Wednesday. Dubai Shopping Festival 2006 ends on February 4, 2007.
