Pergo To Add Direct Laminate Press To U.S. Product

Trelleborg, Sweden, Sept. 4--Pergo has decided to invest about US $16 million in its U.S. operations. The investment includes a direct lamination (DL) press and expansion of the production plant in Garner, NC. The project is estimated to take about 18 months and the DL press should be in operation by January 2005. In the past, Pergo has been unable to produce fully finished direct laminated flooring. The new press will enable the firm to control the entire production process for DL floors. The objective is to use the new capacity for production of Pergo’s premium products in the North American market and thus strengthen the local presence. A part of the product range will continue to be produced externally.
