Pergo Signs License Agreements

Trelleborg, Sweden, Oct. 8—Pergo has signed license agreements with three laminate producers: Kaindl, Kronospan and Kronotex. Combined, the three jointly owned firms are the world’s largest laminate flooring producer. The agreement entitles the three to produce and sell laminate flooring products manufactured with Pergo''s patented click joints worldwide. Pergo will receive license fees beginning in the fourth quarter of this year. Pergo''s CEO, Raimo Issal said, "This represents an industry recognition of the strength of our patents." The company will also withdraw its patent infringement filings against Mohawk Industries, which were made earlier this year. The deal will enable Mohawk, which has a supply agreement with the three companies, to sell laminate flooring with the click joints. The company said it will continue to vigorously assert its patent rights in the U.S. against Shaw Industries, Witex USA, Alloc, Berry Finance N.V. and Armstrong World Industries.
