Pakistan's Carpet Exports Could Top $1B

Lahore, Pakistan, August 9--Pakistan's carpet exports could surpass the US$1 billion mark with the introduction of a strategic plan that covers the entire industry, according to Major Akhtar Nazir Cooki (Retd), the vice chairman of Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA). Cooki said the country's carpet and rug exports had increased to US$282.80 million as compared to last year's US$231.44 million. According to Asia in Focus, to advance this plan, Cooki said that PCMEA has decided to hold the 2nd regional hand knotted exhibition from August 28 to 30. The expo will be held at the Expo Center in Karachi.
