OW Sees Minimal Impact of Egypt Unrest
Cairo, Egypt, Feb. 2, 2011 -- Oriental Weavers USA said the turmoil in Cairo, where Oriental Weavers is based, should not affect customers in the U.S.
"Given the current challenges in communications with Egypt involving blockages of the Internet and other modes of communication, our customers here in the US should rest assured that they will feel no disruption in business today or at any time in the near future," the company said in a press release.
"If the political situation resolves itself in the coming weeks as expected, you will see absolutely no impact in our deliveries to our customers in the U.S. The only affect felt by our operation will be a slight delay in new product introductions if at all."
OW said its U.S. operation keeps a minimum of six-plus months of inventory on most running line goods in almost all sizes.
The company said its factories in Egypt are all well protected as are the employees of Oriental Weavers, who mostly live in company developments and housing.
OW said that nearly 80% of the products it makes today can be manufactured in its facilities in Dalton.
