Oriental Weavers' Paul D'huyvetter Dies

Dalton, GA, Nov. 18--Paul D'huyvetter, senior vice president of Oriental Weavers of America, passed away on November 15 after suffering a heart attack. D'huyvetter, 59, was considered to be one of the pioneers of the woven rug industry. He was born in Oudenaarde, Belgium, and moved to the United States at age 15. He attended Ohio State University. During the early part of his career, he was a shoe buyer at Lazarus Department Store in Columbus, Ohio. He entered the textile business with Beaulieu of America, and joined OWA in the mid 1990s and led the company througho its greatest period of growth.
