One More Carpet One in Australia

Wodonga, Australia, August 12—Carpet One is expanding its presence in Australia as Brett St John and his wife Michelle have opened a Carpet One in Southside Terrace in Wodonga, according to The Border Mail. Brett St John said Carpet One was a buying group with stores across Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the U.S. and Britain. “The company has been in Australia for about nine years and after starting in Queensland it has expanded through NSW and into Victoria,” according to St John. “Carpet One dominates in Queensland and is big in Sydney and has stores in Melbourne and regional centres, including Dubbo, Wagga and Bendigo. “We specialise in floor covering for commercial buildings and houses and units.” St John said he had been laying carpet for 20 years, including 10 years in Melbourne where he worked on many of the citys major sites, including the National Australia Bank building and Rialto Tower. It was hard work laying carpet and the wear and tear on his back and legs had convinced him to start his own business. “Brett could not lay carpet forever, so we had to look for something with a future,” Michelle St John said. They decided to open their business in Wodonga because of the growth that was expected to occur on the Border.
