Fairlawn, Ohio, July 20--Adhesive maker Omnova Solutions Performance Chemicals business has established Omnova Performance Chemicals Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. ("OMmnova Asia") to enhance and further expand the company's presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
Omnova Asia will extend the sales and servicing of Omnova's emulsion polymer and specialty chemicals technology, while building on its business relationships throughout the region.
Headed by Sherry Xia, newly appointed Asia-Pacific Business Manager for Performance Chemicals, Omnova Asia will focus on promoting and marketing specialty products including vinylpyridine latex for tire cord, floor polish polymers, textile chemicals, paper coating additives, PolyFox fluorosurfactants, and emulsion polymers for nonwovens, tapes and adhesives applications.
In addition, Omnova Asia will strengthen the company's supply and distribution capabilities in the region through select partnerships and potential joint ventures.
Xia, a Shanghai native, has an extensive sales and marketing background with U.S. multi-national companies serving the Asia-Pacific chemical industry. Xia earned a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Shanghai Industrial Chemical College and is completing a Master's degree in Business Administration from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics/Webster University. She speaks both Mandarin Chinese and English fluently.
In addition to its Asia Performance Chemicals business, Omnova Solutions has two manufacturing joint ventures for its Decorative Products business in Thailand and China.
