Ohio Tile Producer Firing Up Idled Kiln
Summitville, OH, Sept. 3, 2009--Production engineers at Summitville Tiles' Minerva ceramic tile and brick manufacturing facility began to fire up a kiln that had been idled since January.
Company officials said it would take approximately two weeks to bring the kiln up to full temperature and to begin feeding production. An employee call back was scheduled to begin Sept. 1 affecting approximately 30 employees who will begin work Sept. 14 and be phased in through Sept. 21.
According to Summitville Tiles CEO David Johnson, "This employee callback is based upon our existing backlog of orders and the current diminished level of inventories on hand. The proposed increase in production capacity will be needed for at least the next 90 days.
