Number of Homes Listed for Sale Declines Again

New York, NY, Nov. 23, 2011 -- The number of homes listed for sale declined for the fifth consecutive month in October, according to Realtor.com.

The 2.12 million homes listed for sale in October was down by 3.5% from September and down by 21% from one year ago, hitting the lowest level in more than four years.

The Realtor.com figures only include homes that are listed for sale through a realtor.

Inventories declined in 29 of the 30 major metro areas during October
