NRF Names New Chair of Women in Loss Prevention Ca

Washington D.C., August 11--The National Retail Federation (NRF) welcomed the newest Chairperson of the NRF Women in Loss Prevention Caucus. Joan Manson, Director of Loss Prevention, The Container Store, was appointed by Dan Doyle, Chairperson of NRF’s Loss Prevention Advisory Council, to serve the two-year position. Manson succeeds Laurie Sorensen, Vice President of Loss Prevention, Safety and Business Continuity, Macy’s Northwest, who worked to launch the group. "Joan will provide invaluable leadership to the Caucus as it continues to provide support to female retail executives," said Tracy Mullin, NRF President and CEO. "The vision and initiative that she brings with her will guide the group as it continues to grow with new services and programs, including its new mentoring program." Manson joined The Container Store in 1997 to create its Loss Prevention department. In addition to her role as Director of Loss Prevention, she is also responsible for payroll, benefits, employee relations, risk management, legal matters, trademark protection, and acquiring all lines of insurance for the company. Prior to The Container Store, Manson was Director of Loss Prevention for Pearle Vision, where her duties expanded to include human resources. She has also held Loss Prevention positions for Montgomery Ward and Neiman Marcus and currently sits on the NRF Loss Prevention Advisory Council. The Women in Loss Prevention Caucus, formed as a subcommittee of NRF’s Loss Prevention Advisory Council, meets annually and by conference call quarterly to discuss the issues that women face in advancing their careers in retail loss prevention. The group, with more than 220 members, is open to female executives in the loss prevention division of retail companies.
