Nourison Plays Role in US Grand Hotel Renovation
Saddle Brook, NJ, November 8, 2006--Participation in the recently completed renovation of the US Grant Hotel in San Diego is Nourison’s latest highly successful large-scale design and production project for the hospitality industry. The historic 96-year-old landmark hotel built in 1910 by Ulyses S. Grant Jr., now features custom versions of Nourison’s most prestigious collections throughout its guest rooms, suites, corridors and lobbies. Nourison was chosen by the hotel design team and Adi Pourfard, President of Aja Rugs of La Jolla, CA, to create and produce customized versions of its renowned Grand Parterre and Hamilton House Collections, two of the company’s most luxurious lines. In an extraordinarily detailed design effort, Nourison created inset, bordered patterns that allowed many of the rooms and halls to be woven to specification in one seamless piece with design islands, borders and end caps already intact and fit to size. Nourison also employed special dyeing and weaving techniques to emulate old world handmade floorcovering, capturing the historical essence of the property, a stated requirement of the restoration effort. All carpets were specially woven on state of the art face to face Wilton looms in 100% New Zealand wool at Nourison’s two weaving plants. Gerard O’Keefe, vice president of Broadloom for Nourison said, “For all of us involved this has been a labor of love for the better part of a year, and it is extremely gratifying to see the envisioned result finally unveiled.” The hotel and design team’s insistence on quality and authenticity is readily apparent throughout the impeccable property. Only the finest materials were used throughout the restoration. The project called for extraordinary coordination and extreme precision at every level. “Our luxurious quality, archival designs, special dyeing and weaving techniques and unique ability to execute the detailed custom requirements of this project distinguished us from the prototypical hospitality mills. We are proud to be associated with the restoration of this landmark property, and I am extremely proud of our talented design team who worked tirelessly on this for months,” Said O’Keefe.
