Nourison Breaks Ground for New Facility
Calhoun, GA, May 26, 2006--Nourison Rug Corp., broke ground Wednesday for a 300,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility on U.S. 41 at Union Grove Road, according to the Calhoun Times. Nourison plans to begin using the Calhoun facility for its rapidly expanding broadloom operations, which have outgrown the company’s headquarters warehouse houses in New Jersey. “This building represents another step in our company’s growth,” said Nourison’s Andrew Peykar. “Our broadloom enterprise has been a resounding success that has allowed us to make this commitment in Calhoun. “With the cutting-edge technology we plan for this building and with the local expertise in broadloom so readily available in this area, we have great confidence that Nourison’s commitment will reap rewards for both the company and this community.” Peykar commended the city and the county and the Development Authority of Gordon County for their help in the relocation project. “This is an outstanding company with outstanding people throughout the company,” said Larry Roye, development authority chairman. “This groundbreaking marks Phase 1 for them, and we want them to grow and expand in Calhoun. “We are very pleased and excited to have Nourison locate in our community. We appreciate the investment and jobs the company brings and look forward to the future growth of this company. Peykar said he expects Nourison to employ between 50 and 75 workers when it opens its Calhoun facility in early 2007. “That number could be a little more,” he said. “The Nourison facility will be built on a 40-acre tract with frontage on both U.S. 41 and Union Grove Road that offers room for expansion,” said Jimmy Phillips, president of the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce. Nourison is a diversified producer and importer of handmade area rugs. The company manufactures rugs in China and exports them to the United States for finishing and final processing. The company’s rugs are sold through a network of dealers across the United States and at major retailers, such as Macy’s and Bed, Bath & Beyond.
