NOFMA Welcomes Two New Graduates

Memphis, TN, May 10, 2007--NOFMA: The Wood Flooring Manufacturers Association welcomed two graduates last month to its growing list of Certified Wood Flooring Inspectors (CWFI). Glen Miller, Naylor, Mo., and Kevin Schleweis,  Advanced Flooring Inspections, Littleton, Col., take the total number of NOFMA CWFIs to 14.

The NOFMA- CWFI course is intended for floor covering inspectors, home inspectors, and those in wood flooring  related businesses interested in expanding the depth of their expertise. Applications must be submitted by mail for  acceptance. As part of the application process, the candidate must also agree to abide by a written Code of Ethics  and Professional Standards. Tuition cost is $2,500 upon notification of application approval. Those who successfully  complete the course will have the opportunity to become NOFMA ® Certified Wood Flooring Inspectors (NOFMA®  CWFI).

The NOFMA-CWFI program was started in the fall of 2002 when the first school was held. Since then, 56 candidates  have attended a NOFMA CWFI school and 14 have earned NOFMA Certified Wood Flooring Inspector status. In  addition, 10 candidates are well on their way to certification.    “Our program is by far the most comprehensive and credible of any wood flooring inspector certification program  that exists,” said Mickey Moore, NOFMA’s Technical Director. “We won’t certify someone simply on the basis of  having passed a test. Instead, our certified wood-flooring inspectors must undergo extensive training in all aspects  having to do with manufacturing standards, installation guidelines and procedures, and performance of wood  flooring. We also teach the proper procedures for inspecting a floor, proper data collection, and how to report the findings. Once they’ve been trained and have passed the examination, they must prove their ability by submitting  written reports for review as well as schedule a series of supervised field inspections.”

NOFMA will offer its next NOFMA-Certified Wood Flooring Inspector School August 18-22, 2007 at the Holiday Inn  Select, East Memphis. The five-day course will be limited to 15 participants. For more information about attending  the school planned for August in Memphis, interested parties should contact NOFMA at 901-526-5016 or  info@nofma.org. A full list of inspectors along with applications and additional information is available at  www.NOFMA.org.
