NJ Governor Proposes Tax on Flooring Installations

Trenton, NJ. May 26--Acting New Jersey Gov. Richard J. Codey wants to cut hikes on existing sales and property taxes and impose new fees on services including flooring installation. The proposed budget includes $175 million of $275 million in proposed sales-tax increases that would be achieved by requiring additional services to be taxed, including limousines, landscaping, massages and tanning. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, carpet and flooring installation along with courier services also would be subject to sales tax. Codey's proposed budget is $27.4 billion and must be passed before July 1.
