New Zealand Wool Carpet In TV Decorator Show

Atlanta, GA, May 11, 2006--This fall on Designer’s Challenge--a decorating series on Home and Garden Television (HGTV)--designer Teri Mulmed, owner of DoDaz, Inc. in Scottsdale, Arizona, will use a Wools of New Zealand carpet to decorate a high-rise condo. Viewers watch as Mulmed transforms the hard-edged space into a curvaceous, high-efficiency home complete with kitchen, dining area, media room, office, and wet bar. “When renovating a space, one of my favorite places to start is the floor,” says Mulmed. “I like to use different types of flooring materials to identify destinations and guide people through the interior. For this project, I chose to pair terrazzo flooring with custom wool carpet from Rodeo Carpet Mills to create high luxury, hardwearing areas that are also low maintenance.” Mulmed, a long time customer of Rodeo Carpet Mills, knew just where to turn to create her wool carpet. She began with Nu-California Sparkle--a Wools of New Zealand Brand cut-pile with glistening accents of Lurex--and had Rodeo custom cut and color the lush carpet in waves of cobalt blue and magenta purple. Mulmed designed the shimmering carpet to coordinate with the terrazzo floor, which is accented with chips of colored glass. “I can always rely on Rodeo Carpet Mills to turn my drawings into beautiful custom creations,” says Mulmed. “Especially impressive is their color capabilities; the richness and intensity of this piece was absolutely extraordinary. They really did a fabulous job—and delivered it on time.” When asked why Mulmed chose wool, she explains, “I wanted a fiber that would be as strong and hardwearing as the terrazzo floor. Wool is a low maintenance, high performance fiber that maintains its beauty. It is also soft and luxurious, with noise absorbing qualities that help stop sound from bouncing off hard surface floors, counter tops, cabinets and furnishings. Above all, I love the way wool looks and takes color; there is no other fiber like it.” Designer’s Challenge is a weekly half-hour series hosted by Chris Harrision.
