White Plains, NY, October 17, 2005--GLM has announced plans to shift the New York Home Textiles Show from its current spring and fall timeframe to a new winter and summer date pattern, coinciding with the New York International Gift Fair, beginning in August 2006. This timing will closely align the Show with the Home Fashion Products Association’s (HFPA) recently announced February and August dates for the New York Home Textiles Market Week. In advance of this, the spring New York Home Textiles Show will be held as previously announced, running March 31-April 3, 2006, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.
This shift in timing will reposition the New York Home Textiles Show alongside two GLM-managed events: the New York International Gift Fair, which features 2,800 exhibitors at the Javits Center and the Passenger Ship Terminal Piers, and EXTRACTS: New discoveries in beauty and wellness, which features 120 exhibitors at the Penn Plaza Pavilion.
The inaugural summer New York Home Textiles Show will feature 200 exhibitors, and run Sunday, August 13 through Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at the Metropolitan Pavilion, which is located at 125 West 18th Street (between Avenue of the Americas and Seventh Avenue), in New York City. The venue is a short shuttle-bus ride from the Javits Center and the Passenger Ship Terminal Piers, and is in close proximity to New York’s permanent showrooms.
Plans are underway to create a distinctive, high-end environment for showcasing the most innovative and luxurious home textile and home accessory products: bed and bath fashions, table linens, kitchen textiles, decorative accessories, area rugs, window treatments, fashion hardware, infant and juvenile merchandise and home apparel.
“GLM is in the business of creating market solutions. We are confident that the repositioning of the New York Home Textiles Show will optimize the show’s business potential, creating a dynamic trade venue and profitable market for all industry constituents,” said Penny Sikalis, vice president and group show manager. “Collocating the New York Home Textiles Show within the broader context of the robust New York gift market is a win-win strategy - immediately responsive to the goals of high-end textile manufacturers/importers, and benefiting retailers from all classes of trade with expanded resources.”
The New York Home Textiles Show is the premier international home textiles market in the United States. The next edition of the Show will take place Friday, March 31-Monday, April 3, 2006, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, featuring some 200 exhibitors showcasing more than 800 lines of bed, bath, linen and home accessories products. The spring edition will be immediately preceded by Global Connections, running March 28-30, 2006, in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
