New York Attorney General Shuts Down Flooring Webs

Albany, NY, May 13--The state Attorney General's office has shut down the website of Beaverhome.com, a flooring company formerly in Niagara Falls, for violating a 2003 court order to make refunds for undelivered goods, according to the Buffalo News. The company, owned by Neal Martin and his son Cole Martin, relocated to Georgia without paying full restitution and continued to generate complaints from consumers, according to a statement by Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's office. State Supreme Court Judge Christopher J. Burns ordered the website shut down on May 4 after finding Beaverhome in civil contempt of an order to pay a $285,000 fine and to stop accepting advance payments from consumers. The California-based company that hosted the Beaverhome site complied with the order, and the site remains closed until further order of the court, Spitzer's office said. A related site called BeaverFloor.com was also unplugged. Beaverhome has repaid $269,000 to consumers, Spitzer's office said. A court order last year required it to repay $300,000, on top of an earlier $150,000 promised payment that was part of a settlement in 2002.
