New Invista Commercial Fiber Has Green Recipe
Atlanta, GA, June 12, 2009--Invista has introduced Bio Legacy nylon, which it says is the commercial carpet industry’s first fiber containing materials derived from renewable resources and designed specifically for commercial market applications.
In addition, it has introducedd Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon with post-consumer recycled content.
Bio Legacy nylon is part of the new Bio Antron carpet fiber family and features the same performance as Antron Legacy nylon, Invista said. It is available in acid dye and cationic dye.
Lumena solution dyed nylon has a minimum of 25 percent pre- and post-consumer recycled content and can contribute to LEED credits.
“Antron Bio Legacy nylon is a groundbreaking introduction for the commercial market because it’s a...branded carpet fiber that contains bio-based material and has no performance or aesthetic tradeoffs,” said Bobby Berrier, vice president of commercial interiors.
Bio Legacy nylon contains 10% bio-based nylon derived from castor bean oil. Under new LEED guidelines, carpets made with the fiber can contribute to LEED credit for rapidly renewable materials. The fiber can also be recycled in available type 6,6 nylon recycling chains.
