New Director Leaves Armstrong Board
Lancaster, PA, October 27, 2006--A director of the recently reorganized Armstrong World Industries has resigned from the company's board after only three weeks of service, according to a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission. Scott D. Miller, the former vice chairman and president of Hyatt Hotels, left the Armstrong board Monday. No reason was given for his exit. The company also did not indicate whether Miller will be replaced. Neither Miller nor an Armstrong spokeswoman could be reached for comment by press time. Miller, now chief executive officer of Six Sigma Academy, a worldwide process improvement consulting firm, was one of six new directors to join Armstrong when it emerged from bankruptcy Oct. 2. He was among four appointed by representatives of Armstrong current and future asbestos claimants, the largest party in the bankruptcy. The other two new directors were selected by Armstrong's unsecured creditors, the second largest. The remaining three directors, including Armstrong CEO Michael Lockhart, were holdovers from the prior board which served before the firm emerged as a new corporation.
