NAHB Calls for Entries for Pillars of the Industry

Washington, DC, August 18, 2006--Apartment owners and developers, property managers, architects, interior designers, and others involved in the multifamily housing industry are invited to enter the 2006 Pillars of the Industry Awards competition sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The Pillars Awards honor excellence in apartment and condominium design and development, as well as leadership in marketing and property management. Since its inception in 1990, the Pillars Awards program has earned the reputation as the most prestigious in the multifamily industry, and both the housing industry and the media look to the Pillars Awards as a showcase of future trends and innovation. “The Pillars Awards represent the perfect opportunity for NAHB to promote the benefits of apartment and condo living and for multifamily professionals to be recognized for their commitment to providing superior housing choices, both rental and for sale, for today’s consumer,” said Leonard Wood, chairman of NAHB’s Multifamily Leadership Board and director of Wood Partners, LLC. This year’s awards categories have been updated to reflect the changing dynamics of the current market. There are now categories for “Best Condo Hotel” as well as categories for “Best Adaptive Reuse” of a non-residential building to either apartments or condos. In addition, the application process has been simplified and can be done online at www.nahb.org/pillarsawards. Applications will be accepted until Nov. 30, 2006. Award recipients will be honored at a gala ceremony during NAHB Multifamily’s Pillars of the Industry Conference, which will be held in the spring.
