Mullican Starts 2006 with Product Expansions

Johnson city, TN, January 10, 2006--In today’s society, there is a notion that bigger is better. If that is the case, Mullican Flooring will be much better in 2006. Recognized as the nation’s largest manufacturer of 3/4-inch unfinished solid hardwood flooring, Mullican enters the new year by bolstering its offering of prefinished flooring. The Johnson City-based company is introducing a new product line, increasing its engineered exotics selection, and adding a variety of species and colors to its hand-sculpted lines of solid and engineered flooring. Each of Mullican’s new products will be on display at booth 6453 at Surfaces 2006. The event will be held Feb. 1-3 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas. Mullican’s new line of prefinished engineered flooring, Frontier Collection, consists of two categories: machine distressed and wire brushed flooring. Each features the company’s latest production and manufacturing techniques designed to give customers a unique floor. Available in five-inch widths, the Frontier Collection contains 14 species and color combinations. The company is nearly doubling its Foothills line of 5/16-inch prefinished engineered flooring by adding five exotic species and colors available in three- and five-inch widths. Ridgecrest, Mullican’s 1/2-inch prefinished engineered selection, is being expanded to 15 products with the addition of four exotic species, each available in five-inch widths. Mullican’s line of 1/2-inch hand-sculpted engineered flooring--called Chalmette-- is also being expanded from four to six colors and species, each available in five-inch widths. “Mullican is a well-known leader in the unfinished flooring business, and this expansion shows that we are equally committed to becoming a leader in the prefinished flooring sector as well,” says Brian Greenwell, Mullican’s vice president of sales and marketing. “These expansions to our product line are a dramatic step for Mullican as we improve our position in the prefinished flooring market.” In 2005, Mullican increased its offering of 3/4-inch solid hand-sculpted flooring from five to 14 colors. Knob Creek, which contains four new hand-sculpted species and colors available in three- and four-inch widths, was introduced in late 2005. In 2006, Mullican is introducing a six-inch board, the company’s widest product, available in four species and colors. Mullican has facilities in five states, including plants in Norton, Va., Holland, N.Y., Bowling Green, Ky., Ronceverte, W.Va., and Johnson City. The company offers a complete line of unfinished solid flooring that includes clear, clear-quartered and select-quartered oaks, herringbone slats and specialty species such as ash, cherry, walnut, hickory and hard maple. Plank is available in three-, four-, five-, six- and seven-inch widths in a wide variety of species. Rustic grades are also available. Mullican offers a complete line of prefinished solid flooring that includes oak, maple, cherry, walnut, hickory, rustics, hand-sculpted and an extensive selection of exotic species.
