Mortgage Rates End Year Below 4%

Washington, DC, Dec. 29, 2011 -- Mortgage rates finished the year slightly above their record lows, according to the latest data from Freddie Mac.

The 30-year fixed rate mortgage in the week ending Dec. 29 rose to 3.95% from 3.91% last week and 4.86% last year, and the 15-year fixed rate averaged 3.24%, up from 3.21% last week and 4.20% last year.

The 30-year fixed rate has been at or below 4% for the past nine weeks.
