Mortgage Application Volume Rises

Washington, DC, July 23, 2014 -- Mortgage application volume rose 2.4% from one week earlier, according to data from the Mortgage Bankers Association. 

The Refinance Index increased 4% from the previous week. The seasonally adjusted Purchase Index increased 0.3% from one week earlier.

The refinance share increased to 54.4% of total applications, the highest level since March 2014, from 53.6% the previous week.

The average rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages remained unchanged at 4.33%.
