More Flooring Manufacturers Using ecoScorecard

Atlanta, GA, June 10, 2008--Armstrong, J&J Carpets Invision and Mohawk Karastan, Bigelow and Lees are among several manufacturers of carpet and flooring that have integrated ecoScorecard into their online product catalogs, allowing architects and designers to easily measure the environmental impact of their products and materials.

EcoScorecard is a web-based software application developed by a team of green building consultants who were trying to solve one of the biggest frustrations of both manufacturers and design teams looking to specify products that met a variety of environmental parameters: the wasted time and effort from quantifying each product in the project specification, a requirement for certification in every rating system.

“We’re passionate about the critical role of green buildings in our environment and we see our role as helping knock down the obstacles in getting them built,” said ecoScorecard CEO Paul Shahriari.

“Understanding how ‘green’ a product is, and how it  fits into any of the rating systems has been one of those obstacles.  ecoScorecard overcomes that.”

Streamlining the way manufacturers can publish their product’s green characteristics in their product web sites is an important first step, but ecoScorecard goes even further, doing the calculations necessary for seven environmental rating systems and producing the product documentation for inclusion in the certification process.

For the architectural and design community, ecoScorecard makes product information always available.

Manufacturers can designate any of the following rating systems for inclusion:  LEED Green Building Rating Systems, including New Construction, Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance, Core & Shell, Commercial Interiors, and the retail and laboratory application guides;  LEED Canada New Construction and Commercial Interiors rating systems; Green Guide for Healthcare; Collaborative for  High Performance Schools; and residential systems that include LEED for Homes, NAHB’s National Green Building Standard and ReGreen residential remodeling guidelines.
