Mohawk Website Gets New Look

Dalton, GA, May 3, 2006--Mohawk’s website has a new look and more consumer-friendly features. The consumer website, www.mohawk-flooring.com has been updated with a new design and a revised navigation that makes it easier to find information. It also has enhanced dealer locator functions to make it easier to find stores nearby. The website features the graphics from Mohawk’s new “What If” consumer ad campaign, which uses storybook characters to add romance and excitement to flooring choices. A pop-up “storybook” shows consumers flooring and other surface choices in vignettes featuring Cinderella, Goldilocks, and the Evil Queen. Consumers can see color choices, and click a link to immediately find a local dealer. “We wanted to enhance the website so that consumers could easily find the information they wanted, and we wanted to give them more opportunities to see the imagination possible with today’s Mohawk flooring choices,” said Ed Williams, senior vice president of marketing. The website navigation now features three main categories: Planning and Decorating, Shopping and Buying, and Maintaining and Caring. “This lets consumers find information relating to their floorcovering situation,” Williams said. “It gives us the opportunity to connect with customers coming into the market, those ready to make a purchase, and those who want to take care of their flooring investment. And this navigational structure lets us keep building more content into the website as we move forward.” One interactive feature of the website is Mohawk’s DreamVision, which allows a consumer to see how a variety of flooring choices might look in a room. With the click of a mouse, the web visitor can select floorcoverings, trim, and even wall paint to see how a dream room could look. DreamVision offers a variety of room settings, including bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, entertainment rooms, and other choices. The visitor can even select the furnishing style--contemporary, casual, or traditional--to get an even better idea of how her room will look with just the right flooring and other design treatments. Williams said one goal of the new Mohawk website was to make it a stronger sales tool for Mohawk dealers. An enhanced dealer locator gives viewers multiple opportunities for finding a local dealer, and dealers can link their own store website URLs to the dealer locator. Consumers can apply for credit online through Mohawk’s credit program, so they can arrive at their dealer ready to purchase. “We’re applying our concept of ‘continuous renewal’ to Mohawk’s web presence, so we have more enhancements planned for the future,” Williams said. “We think it’s a critical tool in our partnership with Mohawk dealers.” For more see www.mohawk-flooring.com.
