Mohawk U. Sets 2004 Course and Training Programs

Dalton, GA, Nov. 4—Mohawk University, the training division of Mohawk Industries, will be even more valuable to retailers in 2004. Mohawk University is expanding its courses, going to new cities across the nation, and offering new electronic training tools in its efforts to help dealers train salespeople, improve operations, and build sales and profitability. “Mohawk University is one of the most important things we do as an organization,” said Ed Williams, Senior Vice President of Marketing. “We work as partners with our dealers, and part of our responsibility is to provide tools that enhance their success. Over the years, Mohawk University has done this for thousands of stores across the nation.” “This year, we’re planning more than 240 individual Mohawk University classes in more than 80 different cities,” said Mike Zoellner, Vice President, Marketing Services. “We’ve added new cities to our list, so more stores can participate, and we’re including a number of expanded classes, particularly for installation and business operations.” Single day courses offered by Mohawk University include: ·Individual Product Knowledge for Carpet, Hardwood, Laminate, Ceramic Tile, and Vinyl. ·Time Management for Sales People. ·Dynamics of Color. ·Customer Focused Selling Skills. ·How To Measure a Room. ·Running Your Business by the Numbers. ·Profitable Strategies for Running Your Business. Three-Day Colleges include courses on Sales, Advanced Selling, Business Systems, and Inspiring Leadership. Longer courses were also recently added for Carpet Installation Training, Ceramic Tile Installation Training, and Laminate/Wood Installation Training. Mohawk University also has introduced new CD training courses on “The Pillars of Carpet Performance,” “Fundamentals of Wood and Laminate Flooring,” and “Basic Sales.” CDs are interactive and can dramatically speed the learning process. “Our goal is to make information as accessible as possible for our customers, and the CD courses allow stores to involve more of their people with solid, fundamental training. We’re very excited about expanding this program,” Zoellner said.
