Mohawk to Open Cushion Plant in Washington

Tacoma, WA, June 15--Mohawk Industries will bring a manufacturing facility for its Alliance Carpet Cushion division to Chehalis. The new plant, slated to open in September 2005, will employ between 20 and 50 individuals. "The plans presented to the Port of Chehalis include an expansion of 17,000-square-feet to the current 36,000-square-foot building," stated Jim Rothlin, Port executive director. "The company's salaries are very competitive and include medical, dental, vision and 401K benefits." This will be Alliance's sixth manufacturing facility and the first in the Pacific Northwest, according to Jim Hale, who will be the new plant's manager. "All our other facilities are located in small cities," said Hale, who currently manages a plant in Tifton, Georgia. "We have found that these communities offer a friendlier atmosphere and the residents have a strong work ethic."
